Galley is built so you can speak freely without being identifiable — and still know everyone around you is really in aviation. Here's exactly how that works, with nothing glossed over.
How you appear in Galley
Your handle is anonymous. Verify a work email and your posts carry a verified company badge — proof you're really in aviation, with your name nowhere in sight.
You post under an anonymous handle
When you join, you get an anonymous handle — something like @soaring-sparrow-350. That handle is what everyone sees on your posts, comments, and messages. Your real name is never displayed anywhere in the app.
You verify with a work email
To prove you're crew, you verify a work email — but Galley doesn't keep it. We use it once to send your code and to read the domain (so we know your airline), and what we hold onto is proof you verified plus your company — not the address. Behind the scenes that check is recorded only as a salted, one-way fingerprint that can't be turned back into your email, in a locked store that's never linked to your handle — and cleared out soon after. The code itself is delivered through a third-party email provider; Galley doesn't store or display your address. Verifying unlocks your company's private channel.
Your posts show affiliation — not identity
Once verified, your posts carry a badge like Pilot @ Delta. The badge attaches to the company — the part we actually verified. The role is self-declared and shown dimmer, so nothing implies we confirmed your seat. Galley never shows anything more granular than coarse role + company.
Both at once is the whole point
Anonymity makes people honest. Verification makes the room trustworthy. Together you get the rare thing: candid conversation among people you know are really in aviation, without anyone — including us, in public — tying a post back to a name.

- The public feed is readable by anyone.

- See how the community actually talks — no signup wall to look.
Members
- Posting and commenting require an account.
- Direct messages between members (request / accept, block).
- Company channels are gated to verified crew of that airline.

What's true — and what isn't
What Galley does
- Shows an anonymous handle on everything you post.
- Verifies your airline by domain, then shows only role + company.
- Doesn't store your work email — only a one-way fingerprint and your airline, never tied to your handle.
- Lets you delete your account anytime — your identity is removed and your posts unlinked (shown as
[deleted]), then fully purged after 30 days.
What it doesn't claim
- It isn't end-to-end encrypted — operating the service means storing your content and account data.
- Moderators can act on reported content to keep the community usable.
- Your anonymity protects you from other users — it isn't a shield to break the law or harm people.
